In 2020, a visionary group of nearly 20 Black Georgiafamilies embarked on a mission to address racial inequalities that had ignited widespread protests. Their endeavor involved purchasing nearly 100 acres of
land near Toomsboro, Georgia, to establish a self-sustaining Black community, known as Freedom, Georgia, under the banner of the Freedom Georgia Initiative.

Afrofuturism, a wellspring of hope for many seekingbelonging and improved futures, blends imagination, technology, liberation, and culture. Rooted in a redefinition of Blackness, Afrofuturism envisions a future
beyond the confines of trauma. It expands the boundaries of Black narratives, giving prominence to Black voices in science, technology, innovation, and more.
Francis Kéré, an acclaimed architect, represents theintersection of architecture and Afrofuturism. His work emphasizes positive, culturally resonant spaces that empower communities while embracing local material and sustainability. Afrofuturism in architecture reflects a dream of African youth—a vision that transcends despair and embodies comfort, beauty and inspiration.
My personal and professional journey with Afrofuturismresonates deeply, aligning its core values with my approach as a Foresight Facilitator and Futurist. Just as Afrofuturism embodies concepts of safety,
freedom, and justice, my work involves collaborative, micro world-building to transform current Western trends into proud and compelling, attainable future(s).
The future holds promise and challenges, as evidenced by thesteady rise of multigenerational living. This trend is fueled by shifting demographics and cultural dynamics and it's crucial to design housing that accommodates the diverse needs of these households, incorporating features like universal design, flexible layouts, and private spaces.
Housing structures need to be adaptable to accommodatechanging needs, and communities should address affordability issues by providing incentives for affordable units and improving infrastructure.
